I am feeling very remiss that I have not updated this blog recently but life got in the way. I had a spell of not doing very much sewing or indeed anything creative but am now hopefully over the hump.
I made a quick and easy baby quilt for my newest great-niece who is flying off to live in Zimbabwe so I made a quick trip over to the UK for Easter to deliver it and also to meet the two week old Jamie Rose.

Happily I am up to date with my journal quilts, this year 6 inches is the measurement of the smallest side and they will all be based on the theme man made and I have opted for things I have seen locally while walking. The idea is to keep them quick and simple, the one for May is taking far longer than it should but I am travelling and enjoying stitching it!

The first two of this year’s Fifteen by fifteen pieces are also completed, the subject this year is decay; these two are using an old quilt which I cut up and added to to make two distinct pieces.

At the end of march/beginning of April I taught a couple of classes based on creating stencils both local-ish but I only managed to take one photo! The ladies were all keen and worked hard to produce some wonderful results.

One new piece did see the light of day, using a photograph I took on one of my favourite walks I built the rocks one by one on the riverbed. They are hand painted and I haven’t stitched them down too tightly because I wanted a feeling of space between them.

My head has started to buzz with ideas for new work but they will have to wait because I am off walking for three weeks….
