2026 – N° 1

Well here we are in 2026 and not a great deal has changed! The weather has been the weather starting the year with some very cold sunny days, some relatively warm wet days and then a real snow day! Enough snow fell to totally shut down all transport in the area, we are just not equipped for what the powers to be call an ‘event’, 20 – 30 cm in an area where we have no winter tyres and rarely a snow shovel. It was stunningly beautiful and brought out the best in everybody. Now it is variable but leaning towards being wet!

The festive season was quiet just as I like it and I pottered away at home doing ‘stuff’. A knitted afghan patchwork blanket got a crocheted edge, my first real attempt at crochet and it was fun. My old sewing box got a new cover and some tedious chores were achieved.

I finished my journal quilts before the end of the year and the last Fifteen by Fifteen piece was finished in November.

The year started by finishing a project which has been in the planning for ages, it still needs mounting on a canvas but the stitching is all finished. Photo is of the unfinished piece.

The first journal of the year has been completed as has the first 15 by 15 but that is under wraps until the end of the month.

I am again in the Art book for the Nouveau Aquitaine area and we had the launch two weeks ago.

During the few hours that we had snow I took advantage and did some snow dyeing, time was short and some of my dyes are rather old so the results weren’t very exciting but it was fun to do.

Hopefully I will now get some serious time in the workroom as my walking has been curtailed due to a broken toe, the weather isn’t brilliant either…..
